New urban bus routes for Mazarron

The Autonomous Community of Murcia has approved new bus routes for the Mazarron area after much deliberation; the hard work put in by the town hall has paid off with the news that the permanent routes will benefit the 35,000 residents in the area.

Canada de Gallego, Pastrana, Alamillo, Bolnuevo, Puerto de Mazarron, Atalaya, Leiva and Camposol are just some of the places which will have better transport links as a result. The new plan has taken into account the opening of the many new roads in the area recently, such as the Totana to Mazarron motorway, the Alhama to Mazarron motorway and the new toll road to Cartagena and Vera.

The highlights of the plan include a connection between sectors A & B of Camposol, a stop at Alamillo and new routes passing through La Via and Canadica to help passengers get into the town centre more easily. The new routes focus on the areas where the population has risen rapidly such as Canada de Gallego and Camposol.

During the summer months a night time service will also be in operation with the aim of reducing the number of people especially youngsters who might be tempted to drink and drive on a hot summers evening.

The acquisition of 3 new buses and hiring of 6 new drivers will make the plans a reality and help residents and visitors alike to travel the 242 kilometres of road in this area.

The municipality of Mazarron covers 318.7 square kilometres and is home to over 35,000 people of 80 different nationalities. Its location and the wonderful climate attract many visitors and a better public transport system will be a great boost to the area.
