The lawyers fees involved when purchasing property in Spain are generally in the region of 1% of the purchase price, plus 16% IVA (VAT) The other fees you will need to consider are those which need to be paid to the land registry, the notary and any fees you might have to pay to the bank when transferring money or when issuing bankers drafts. The rate of IVA (VAT) when purchasing property is7% of the value of the escritura (title deed). There is an additional 1% IVA when purchasing a new property.
